The topic I had chosen is Equality. What is Equality? As shown in the image above, equality is different from justice.
From Article 8, I have realised that the law seems to treat everyone equally but in some circumferences as stated before, there are still discrimination between men and women.
I am interested in this issue because as a woman , I might be facing the issue in the future. Although we had the Malaysia's obligation under the Convention of the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) , direct and indirect discrimination still exist in our country. As stated in the previous cases, pregnancy is a natural cycle of life, but most of the companies use pregnancy as an excuse to stop women from working. Hopefully there will be more bodies like CEDAW to protect the rights of women.
I also learnt some features of the website that I have never seen before. For example, Lexis-Nexis is a really good & quick way to get the full facts of the cases as it was recommended by Taylor's University. Padlets is a cool, simple platform and it's suitable for discussion. Socratives is also easy to use and there isn't any complicated function. Other than using Microsoft power point slides, we could use Powtoon to make video slides that provides cute illustration. I am able to develop Taylor's Graduate Capability (TGC) such as Lifelong learning and Digital Literacy. I am now aware of the issue and that we should protect our rights and I have learnt to use more than 4 useful websites to produce my works in the future after doing this E-Portfolio.
I would like to say thank you to Miss Saratha, who is kind and patient in teaching us. Although most of the time we just keep quiet like a cat, but she still explains slowly and patiently until each of us understand the topics. Before taking this module, I thought that it will be boring just like the Introduction to Law module that I've taken before, where we only do the same things every time, which are either exam or essays every week. Fortunately, Miss Saratha carries out classes differently. The class activities that she incorporates in classes were fun and it made it easier for me to remember the case or the facts.
